New baby!

We adopted a new little boy as of Friday night. It was a little unexpected but life's just like that sometimes isn't it? Miko's not entirely impressed with the idea of him being around, but she'll get over it.

And by baby, I really mean cat. Durr.

A friend of ours took us shopping for groceries the other day but we made a few pit stops along the way. Such as PetSmart for puppy chow. To kill some time we wandered over to the cat section where the humane society has a few kittens and cats on display for people to adopt. There was a GIANT 6 month old... wait... 6 months?! Yeeah ok... a huge white one. A kitten named "Helmet" and trust me, watching him for a while that name suited him just fine. Someone had the bright idea of naming another one "Star Hole" (who comes up with these things?) and a couple of others. Mostly strays. But there was a nice boy down in the corner who seemed fairly friendly, so for kicks again while waiting I asked if I could see/pet him in the special room they have. Well... one very shy kitty decided it was cuddle time, lay across my arms like a limp noodle then sprawled around David's neck like a scarf, talking the whole time. In any case, we decided that he was ours and signed the papers. His original name was Tartan, but we've been going over some possibilities that sound better. I'm thinking "Trouble" suits this guy juuuuust fine though, especially since he's out cold all day then gets very vocal at night with his talking and singing, jumps around like an energizer bunny on speed, decides every 5-10 minutes that it's cuddle time and forces his way under my arms like a teddy bear... only to take off again running. He zips around like a jet, has to help me in the kitchen, climbs into the dish washer (and tried to with the oven :S), "has" to be in the bathroom whether you're doing your business or taking a shower or he bumps himself at the door meowing.... sigh. Definite trouble with a capital T. But he makes up for it in cuteness and he'll surely settle down soon.

Preferably before Miko eats him or something.

She's getting better with the hissing and lets him get within a foot or two now. When he first came out of the box she chased him around the apartment hissing her fool head off. Now she'll let him touch her nose once before she hisses. I think she even played tag with him earlier... either that or she was chasing him to get his tail as a trophy.

Oh well, if they start up tonight, they're both going into the spare room so I can get some sleep. Barely for any the last two nights. Naps after work aren't really cutting it.

All for meow... I mean NOW... now. Yeah that's it. Cya!
