Finally, I got a job. It's not at the place where I was supposed to have an interview for at that Basic Foods place in town, it's at the Canex where I originally wanted to work at right here on the base. It's only a casual position but 12.25 hours a week is better than no hours a week. Plus there's apparently some girls are leaving in due time give or take a month which means the casuals get called in first for an actual "official" interview to take a part time position. I think there's only one casual employee other than myself so we'll probably both get in. Who knows.
It's a fairly easy job too, for one thing it's a LOT slower than I'm used to dealing with that's for sure. Apparently 5 or so people in a line up is busy. So got to mess with balloons, use the till (which has a touch screen and a fancy dancy debit/credit card system with even a touch screen which was weird.), stocked shelves, wandered around the front of the store and joked around with some fairly nice people. There was even some dancing in the back room lol. First day down, 2 more to go this week and I can honestly say that so far, I like my job. I didn't have to worry about customers flipping out on me, my coworkers are all in the same situation with military husbands or significant others... and there's a Timmies riiiiight down the hall. :D Not to mention it's close to home, so in winter it's a five minute walk if that. Not that it's as cold as Winnipeg is with it's -50C weather and wind chills, but still I mean with trudging through the snow and having to bundle up.
So, right now life is good. A bit weird what with trying to get used to this new apartment. The waking up wondering where I am is still slightly in effect or having a kitchen to myself. But it's nice to have a place to ourselves, and Miko of course. :)
